I started at UK & Ireland Life in 2007 as a Graduate Trainee in their marketing department. The graduate scheme is a two year programme where you spend time developing your skills and knowledge, taking professional qualifications and most importantly spending six weeks at the Head Office in Munich learning about the company and the wide range of markets we operate in (as well as learning all about Munich's food and drink culture!). |
The Marketing team cover a wide spectrum of activities both internally and externally. As a team our responsibilities included: communication plans, campaigns, events, all online activities and much more! It definitely opened my eyes! One of the best things about marketing is getting to spend a lot of time with other teams across the office and understanding what they do to make sure we are promoting them in the right way. The highlight for me
was the marketing campaign for the re-launch of our Underwriting and Claims manual, MIRA.
After completing my two years training I became Marketing Consultant. The type of work I was involved in didn't necessarily change but the responsibility certainly did! It was great to have the opportunity to own my projects and really get my teeth into things. During this time we rebranded the company which was a fantastic project with many learning curves along the way - who knew changing a logo created so many conundrums?! This responsibility culminated in managing our new marketing graduate in September 2010.
In 2011, I became Head of Marketing Services so the responsibility has quadrupled! I am certainly embracing the challenge and immersing myself in all the new aspects of the role!
During my four years at UK & Ireland Life, they have provided me with a visible career path with fantastic opportunities to learn and develop along the way.
