Andy Rear

Chief Executive Officer

Andy joined Munich Re in November 2010 from Oliver Wyman where he was a partner and Head of European Insurance. He is also responsible for life reinsurance in South Africa and Australia.  A UK actuary, Andy also has experience in areas such as risk management, product development, pricing and strategy.

Andy Batley

Commerical Director

Andy Batley heads up our Commercial division.  He was previously the CEO of XL Re Life America and subsequently the Head of Global Life Business Development for XL Re.  He specialises in product development, executing longevity transactions and working with start-ups.  He's a hands on individual who actively promotes a client and results focused culture in both our front and back office functions. 

Tim Jehnichen

Products and Pricing Director

Tim Jehnichen is responsible for our product and pricing development.  Tim has been with Munich Re since 2002 where he joined the company as a Graduate Trainee.  He has joined UK Life from our Munich offices.  His experience within reinsurance and primary insurance is diverse and encompasses Solvency II, underwriting automation, longevity swaps and coordinating experience analysis and data mining. 

Jonathan Malpas

Chief Financial Officer and  Finance and Business Management Director

Jonathan Malpas started his career at Munich Re as an actuarial assistant in 1991 and has since taken on a number of roles including Appointed Actuary before being promoted to the role of Chief Financial Officer and Director of Finance and Business Management.  Jonathan's responsibilities include the financial reporting for the UK life branch, IT services, corporate governance and planning co-ordination and the financial management of the reinsurance portfolio.

Andrew Buchanan

Chief Risk Officer

Andrew Buchanan joined Munich Re from Prudential plc where he was the Head of Risk Oversight.  Prior to Prudential, Andrew spent seven years at Oliver Wyman Financial Services where he worked with a large number of insurance groups on topics such as Solvency II, Economic Capital and Risk-adjusted performance management.  He is a qualified actuary. 

Emma Borbone

Head of HR

Emma started her career with Munich Re in November 2007 as HR Business Partner for the UK Life business, and has since taken on responsibility as the Head of HR for the UK Life and Health businesses. Emma joined us with a HR background having worked at companies including HSBC and Dresdner Kleinwort.  Her responsibilities include developing and implementing the HR strategies, policies and processes to support the business on all people related matters.
