On 30 June Paul Hunt, Mike Bolshaw and Jonathan Hughes facilitated an evening of bizarre scenarios, interesting facts, statistics and comedy at a Forum of Claims and Underwriting Scotland (FOCUS) event.
The premise behind the evening was an interactive murder mystery themed workshop. Underwriters and Claims Assessors were mixed up into teams and tasked with investigating how three lives recently accepted for life cover were going to die. The lives discussed, although anonymous on the evening, were real cases seen by Munich Re with the disclosures, histories, claim events and evidence all being taken from our files.
While some might see the topic as a little morbid, experience tells us that underwriting and claims professionals are typically fascinated by such discussion, or perhaps it is just all of us at Munich Re who are!
